About Public Fire Safety

Public safety infrastructure for an era of bigger fires.

PFS brings the Before You Burn program to communities and agencies across the West. It's the first of the tools we're building on the same foundation.

About Public Fire Safety

Modern communication for public safety.

Public Fire Safety builds the tools fire, forestry and air quality agencies use to give the public one clear, current answer. Before You Burn is our flagship program.

For the public

One place to check what local agencies need you to know today, for your address.

For agencies

The PFS Portal publishes status, alerts and press releases from one dashboard.

Between agencies

Fire districts, ODF and air quality regulators coordinate and publish one message.

Our mission

Software for agencies and the public, together.

Most fire software speaks only to departments. PFS speaks to both: agencies get modern tools for operations and compliance, and communities see the work that keeps them safe.

We started with one tool, Before You Burn, to tell residents whether outdoor debris burning is allowed at their exact location. As more agencies joined, they kept asking what else we could do together. The tools that follow are built on the same platform.

Fire safety is a shared responsibility. When communities understand the risk, they act on it. When agencies share data, the public hears one consistent message.
