About Us

Public Fire Safety (PublicFireSafety.com) is dedicated to building safer, better-informed communities through clear communication, modernized fire safety systems, and real-time access to local outdoor burning regulations. Our platform powers the statewide Before You Burn™ program—an Oregon wildfire initiative sponsored by the Oregon Department of Forestry and supported by the Western Fire Chiefs Association.

Our mission is simple: provide residents with the right information at the right time, and equip agencies with the tools they need to keep communities safe.

About Us

Why We Exist

Why We Exist

Across many regions, outdoor debris burning remains one of the leading causes of preventable wildfires. Yet most communities still rely on outdated permitting processes, unclear regulations, and fragmented communication channels. This creates three major challenges:

1. Confusing or Inefficient Burn Processes

Many permitting systems are hard to navigate, inconsistent, or not digital at all. Residents often struggle to understand what’s allowed and when.

2. Lack of Clear or Consistent Fire Safety Rules

Rules vary widely between jurisdictions—state, county, district, and city—leading to misunderstandings and accidental violations.

3. Limited Public Education

Residents don’t always have access to fire safety best practices, local conditions, or environmental considerations that influence burn safety.

These gaps put both residents and public safety agencies at risk. Public Fire Safety was created to solve these problems with clarity, technology, and modern design.
